About
Mos Merab Samii (born 1943 in Rasht, Iran), has, after many wanderings, eventually ended up in the Netherlands. At the age of ten, he started photographing as a hobby with a Kodak folding camera that he received as a gift from his father. Only in recent years did Mos with his fascinating still lifes develop into a master of light.

Inspiration
Mos is inspired by the old masters. His still lifes bring us back in time and are never boring, they are unmistakably influenced by the style of Dutch master painters such as Rembrandt and Vermeer. “The way they play with light and shadow inspires me the most. Many photographers limit themselves to landscapes or portraits. You can hardly see photographed still lifes. I love it; you can do a lot with light and composition.” His power is the imitation of composition and light. He knows how to stage it like no other.
