At a very young age Lotte started drawing, when she grew older she started to paint more and more. After high school she did an preparatory year Fine Arts in Chichester, England. After that she went to the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. Since 2009 she works as a professional painter. Her atelier is located in the Groothandelsgebouw next to the Rotterdam central train station.

Her work is best described as surrealistic with a strong figurative approach.

In the United States and Asia art movements such as ‘Pop Surrealism’ and ‘Lowbrow’ are very popular. Lotte’s work can also be placed under these movements. Her work is dark, gothic and often populated by melancholy girls with big eyes. Her use of colour is extremely intense, but well balanced. Lotte finds her inspiration in memories from her childhood, books and movies, but also from personal trips she has made around the world. She loves to go to art residences in Northern Europe countries for a longer period of time to paint in solitude. Especially during fall or winter time. The natural environment is a huge source of inspiration to her.
