Our frames are carefully selected and stand out in material quality as wel as design. They’re made of an aluminium profile which guarantees a lightweight yet sturdy base. We offer them in 17 different styles including metallics and woods and even some bright colors. We use acrylic glass which is better, brighter and lighter than ordinary glass and less likely to damage during transportation.

The width of the standard frame is 5 mm (~ 0.2 inch) and the depth is 22 mm (~ 0.9 inch). All frames are also available in a luxury version which come with thicker glass and an additional insert to elevate the artwork, adding an extra dimension to it’s display. The width of a luxury frame is 8 mm (~ 0.3 inch) and the depth is 35 mm (~ 1.4 inch).

All frames are custom made to fit the art print by our professional framer and come with a ready-to-hang suspension system.

Note: Framing an artwork takes a bit of time and requires a special shipping method which may affect process and shipping time (but it is definitely worth your while).

Inspiration
The painting Whispers from Eternity a young woman symbolizes the inward soul. She is enclosed by a transparent shell which, by protecting the woman’s vulnerability and inner silence against disturbing and harmful influences from the outside world, enables her to be aware of the secret messages of the world within. The hand covering her ear also indicates protection against noise and disturbances. Behind the girl is the waxing moon, the feminine symbol of receptivity and intuition; two conditions essential for opening the ‘eyes of the soul’. The young woman’s attention is directed towards her inner voice of silence, its echoes discernible in the gentle rhythms of the sea and in the unfathomable spaces behind the star. The painting wants to counterbalance our modern, noisy and superficial society which seems to become more disconnected from connection with nature and the deepest interior of people.

Work method
His painting technique is based on the classic method of layered painting: transparent color layers are applied over a monochrome underpainting, so that the colors acquire a high intensity and a high degree of realism and detailing becomes possible. A traditional and very time-consuming process. For Herman, however, the emphasis on atmosphere and emotional value of the image remains essential. For him technology is never a goal in itself, but only a means to achieve imagination with power of expression.

about the artist

Meet Herman Smorenburg

Herman Smorenburg

Smorenburg did not immediately choose to completely surrender to artistry. While he worked as a teacher for 15 years he also immersed himself intensively in the world of consciousness and inner development. This drive turned out to be essential for his further development as a visual artist and for the deepening of his personal imagination.

‘The extravagance of other surrealists and the mysterious fantasies of symbolists formed the inspirational source for his personal dreams, which he later turned into monumental paintings.’
