Our frames are carefully selected and stand out in material quality as wel as design. They’re made of an aluminium profile which guarantees a lightweight yet sturdy base. We offer them in 17 different styles including metallics and woods and even some bright colors. We use acrylic glass which is better, brighter and lighter than ordinary glass and less likely to damage during transportation.

The width of the standard frame is 5 mm (~ 0.2 inch) and the depth is 22 mm (~ 0.9 inch). All frames are also available in a luxury version which come with thicker glass and an additional insert to elevate the artwork, adding an extra dimension to it’s display. The width of a luxury frame is 8 mm (~ 0.3 inch) and the depth is 35 mm (~ 1.4 inch).

All frames are custom made to fit the art print by our professional framer and come with a ready-to-hang suspension system.

Note: Framing an artwork takes a bit of time and requires a special shipping method which may affect process and shipping time (but it is definitely worth your while).

For this series of abstract self-portraits, Daan worked from his own archive of conflicting experiments, color combinations and patterns. For example, by breaking rules that he had prepared in advance, such as changing the color combination in the middle of the process and breaking the patterns. With his art he wants to add new value to everyday life by questioning contradictions that most people take for granted. He changes everyday recognizable things in such a way that it broadens his perspective and hopefully the perspective of the viewer as well. Various opposing answers can exist beside each other and thus go beyond black-and-white thinking.

Work method
Daan portrays in an abstract way what is going on in his head. He continually experiences an unrest due to the tension between order and chaos and he is always looking for the connection between these two. When he experiences too much chaos, he lets his obsessive perfectionism run free and when the structure becomes too dominant, he looks for the chaos again. This way he connects the two and creates peace in his head, which feels like a sublime experience to him. Daan feels the strong need to take the viewer into this process in order to experience the same as himself.

about the artist

Meet Daan Roukens

Daan Roukens

With his art he gives new value to daily life, by questioning contradictions that most of the people take for granted. Various opposing answers can coexist and thus go beyond black-and-white thinking.

When I experience too much chaos, I let my obsessive perfectionism run free and if that structure becomes too dominant, I will add chaos again. I experience the contradicting and connecting moment of that in-between as a sublime experience, which my work expresses. I feel the strong need to take the viewer into this process in order to experience the same as I do.
